As Good as it Gets
Tap into Texas’ offshore fishing blitz that heats up as the weather starts to sizzle.

Texas offshore fishing is about as good as it gets when the seas aren’t rocking and rolling. The options include fishing the rigs, shrimp boats, rip lines, rocks, wrecks and floating debris. When the conditions are right, there is no reason you can’t have a shot at hard fighting fish like ling, king mackerel, red snapper, blackfin and yellowfin tuna, sailfish and even the occasional white and blue marlin.
The ticket to battling the heavyweights is to run far for deep water. If you’re willing to run out to the deep water structure, 70 to 140 miles offshore, you can catch yellowfin tuna, sailfish and blue marlin.
I’ve been fishing Texas offshore waters for over four decades, and during that time I’ve caught everything from blue marlin to six foot long eels. One of my best days offshore was when I caught a state record 54 pound ling on a fly rod.
