Gulf Council to Meet in Austin, Texas on August 14-17, 2023

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council (Council) will meet Monday, August 14 through Thursday, August 17, 2023 at the Driskill Hotel located in Austin, Texas. The meeting will begin with the induction of three new Council members.
During this meeting, the Council plans to discuss grouper, greater amberjack and yellowtail snapper management measures.  The Council will also review the most recent Spanish mackerel Update Stock Assessment and associated recommendations from the Scientific and Statistical Committee.  The Council will receive presentations from the Highly Migratory Species Division on various management actions and hear from the Bureau of Ocean energy Management on wind energy development in the Gulf of Mexico.

 

The meeting will convene on Monday, August 14, 2023 at 8:00 AM CDT with administrative and management committees. Full Council will convene on Wednesday, August 17th, 2023 and public testimony will be held from 1:30 – 5:00 pm CDT.
