CANYON LAKE — With summer temperatures soaring throughout the state, many Texans are seeking the cooling temperatures and fun of lakes, rivers and bays. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Comal County Sheriff’s Office and Water-Oriented Recreation District of Comal County (WORD) invite media to attend two upcoming events for coverage of boating safety for Canyon Lake and Operation Dry Water.

Operation Dry Water is a national awareness and enforcement campaign (July 1–3) that focuses on reducing the number of alcohol- and drug-related incidents and fatalities on the water.

“Operation Dry Water serves as a crucial reminder that safe boating requires clear judgment and responsible decision making,” said National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) Chair Susan Stocker. “We encourage all boaters to be vigilant, prioritize their safety and stay sober while enjoying their time on the water.”
