Monahans Sandhills State Park Celebrates 60 Years
MONAHANS— Monahans Sandhills State Park is celebrating its 60th anniversary this Saturday with a day filled with fun events in the dunes. The free event begins at 9 a.m. and continues on until 10 p.m.
The birthday celebration will begin at 9 a.m. and will run until 3 p.m. with sand sledding, rock art paint making, geocaching, prehistoric hunting techniques, solar observing, animal tracking, Dutch oven cooking demo, water slide and bounce houses, just to name a few.
Three sand art classes are scheduled throughout the day and will begin at 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
The evening festivities will kick back up after dark with a zombie survival hike at 7 p.m., cowboy music and stories at 8 p.m. with Glenn Moreland and Washtub Jerry of Fort Davis, stargazing and food trucks.
