Houston Safari Club Appoints New Executive Director
Houston Safari Club announces the appointment of Joe Betar, as Executive Director. Betar will be responsible for Houston Safari Club’s management, member relations, programs, and external relationships. He will also serve as the Executive Director of HSC’s charitable arm, the American Conservation and Education Society (ACES), and as Executive Editor of its publications, Hunter’s Horn and Bush Telegraph.
“Joe brings strong management and leadership experience, in the outdoor industry, to Houston Safari Club. We are excited about our organization’s future with him on board,” says Kevin Comiskey, President-Elect, Houston Safari Club.
Betar is an operations, marketing and sales executive with an extensive background in the outdoor industry. From 2006 to 2012, he served as Vice President/COO and later as President, of Texas Trophy Hunters Association. Prior to that, Betar was with Kinetic Concepts, Inc. (KCI) for ten years, where he helped lead the clinical, strategic development, sales planning and marketing departments for the medical technology company. Most recently, he served as a management and marketing strategist for businesses within the hunting, shooting, fishing and outdoor television space. Betar has been affiliated as a member, liaison, committee member or board member for Texas Outdoor Writers Association, Professional Outdoor Media Association, Southeastern Outdoor Press Association, Safari Club International (SCI), National Shooting Sports Foundation, National Rifle Association, Texas Outdoor Partners and Something More Safaris. Joe and his wife Charlotte will be relocating to Houston from San Antonio, TX. They have been married for 24 years and have 3 sons-Joshua, Zachary and Christopher.
