YOLO – You only live once Bucket List.

A list of things to see and do in East Texas before your life’s journey is complete.
A lot of folks in our great state of Texas are unaware of some of the things East Texas has to offer. This is for those folks.
October is a great time to visit the eastern portion of our state. The weather is mild and some of the best of the year, plus the Piney Woods and Post Oak Savannah regions will be in splendid shape.
Additionally, October is a slower time for recreational traffic on Texas’ lakes, and you’ll usually see fewer fishermen on the water as well. This makes for a perfect time to discover new places. A trip to this area, to fish, and see some of the sights and history of our state is in order.
First, we need to determine how long we’d like to visit the region. I’ve always used one way travel time as my guide. If it takes a couple of hours to get there, I’m ok with a day or two. Four hours and I want to stay three or four days. And eight hours? Put me down for an entire week!
This is simply evaluation because if it takes eight hours to get there, I’m much less likely to return as soon, and I want as much time to see and do as I can get. For the purposes of this guide, approach it as though you’re staying for the week. You can make adjustments based on your own personal schedule.
You’ll also have to decide a few things such as lodging and whether you’re taking a boat, or hiring guides. Lodging can be very inexpensive if you’re not too picky, or as bougie as you want with AirBnB and such. If the wife is going along, the cheapest places probably won’t make the cut so to speak.
