“It’s Mine”

On Texas Lower Laguna Madre as the summer heat builds and water temperatures continue to rise speckled trout will bury up in the grass flats seeking shade.  While there they keep an eye on a nearby sandy pothole for something to eat that may come into this barren area.

It’s evident by this month’s cover art entitled “It’s Mine” by Don Breeden that the popular South Texas artist has observed and/or cast an offerng to the far side of a sandy depression and had a speckled trout inhale the plastic fake.  Usually there is more than one set of eyes fixed on the sand and competition is evident with another fish trying to steal the meal.

Through the summer months the pristine waters of the Lower Laguna Madre offer excellent sightfishing to gamefish spotted or caught while drifting the miles of pristine grass flats and potholes.  Those that venture to Texas’ southern most bay waters are regularly reward with excellent catches from a clear tranquil setting to fish.
