About the October 2016 Cover

This month’s cover art by popular wildlife artist Pat Pauley is sure to start a number of arguments across the Lone Star State.  “Texas Trophy II” features one mature whitetail buck with an exceptionally wide inside spread with solid tine length and mass.  The other buck is a very symmetrical, long tine, high horned, solid spread whitetail buck with mass.  So which one do you take?  That’s where the argument begins and continues.

Symmetry argues that spread only counts once in the Boone & Crockett scoring.  Spread argues, “but the spread is approaching 30 inches!”

With exceptional range conditions look for some outstanding whitetail trophies to be taken this season. Which buck would you take?  The debate continues.
