This months cover art by Charles Beckendorf of white-winged dove darting through the brush and cactus of South Texas is a familiar scene for many bird hunters. In fact anyone that has spent a fair amount of time along the Rio Grande River have seen these birds and enjoyed the challenge of hunting them.
Today white-winged dove have expanded their range and can be found well north of South Texas all the way into North Texas and beyond. In South Texas their population has grown to the point where the area the Special White-Winged Dove Season occurs has increased dramatically in size.
As hunting seasons open this month many hunters will have a chance to add these birds to their daily take.
