TPWD Reminds Turkey Hunters that Harvest Reporting is Mandatory in Select South-Central Texas Counties

AUSTIN – This spring turkey season, hunters in Bastrop, Caldwell, Colorado, Fayette, Jackson, Lavaca, Lee, Matagorda, Milam and Wharton counties are required to report their harvests. Mandatory harvest reporting will increase the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) ability to manage wild turkey populations by accurately estimating the harvest in these counties.

Hunters have 24 hours to report their harvest through the My Texas Hunt Harvest app, or on the TPWD website, and obtain a harvest confirmation number. Turkeys harvested must still be properly tagged.

The spring season for these counties runs from April 1 – 30 and the season bag limit is one gobbler per county. More information about bag limits, means and methods, proof of sex  and more can be found in the TPWD Outdoor Annual.
