Heading to the Lower Laguna Madre is a great coastal angling idea any time of the year.  It is especially productive during the wintertime as that is where Texas’ warmest coastal waters can usually be found.

Popular Texas artist Larry Haines has captured one of those special days when conditions are right for sightcasting to skinny water redfish.  “North Cullen” is the title of this month’s cover art, as well as a great location for anglers to fish during the winter months.  String a few bright warm days together and redfish will move up from deeper channels or holes to warm themselves on the flats.

Besides having this popular area almost to themselves, spectacular sunrises and sets are added bonus for those on the water this time of year.  The even better news is conditions improve each passing day as we move toward spring.
