Texas Gulf Coast Beaches along Mustang Island and North Padre Island are not experiencing elevated levels of bacteria of concern to public health.

Nueces County, the City of Port Aransas, and the City of Corpus Christi continue to receive weekly reports on water sampling conducted by the Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health Department with no indication of risks to the public.

“The Texas General Land Office regularly monitors our water quality. I appreciate the work the General Land Office does and also appreciate their continued reinforcement of the high quality of water we have in the Coastal Bend. Corpus Christi and Port Aransas are great communities. Based on the General Land Office’s data, the beaches and marinas in Corpus Christi and Port Aransas are open for business and doing great,” said Nueces County Commissioner (Pct. 4) Brent Chesney.

Several sampling sites are along the Gulf beaches and in area back-bay systems, where local county and municipal governments work with the Texas General Land Office (GLO) to conduct water quality sampling on a weekly basis. Results from these sampling sites are posted on the GLO website, www.texasbeachwatch.com, and updated regularly. Please note when visiting the interactive map at this website, the designation of “low” means “normal” by public health standards.

Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce President Foster Edwards said, “Coastal Bend Area parks and beaches are in great shape and among the healthiest on the Texas Gulf Coast. We encourage vacationers to visit our beautiful beaches.”

“Our beaches and quality of water are in tremendous condition this year, and the rain that has subsided actually has improved the condition of our beaches. The openness of our Gulf-front beach allows guests to drive, park, and enjoy all aspects of spending time near the water with their family,” added Ann Vaughan, CEO and President of the Port Aransas Chamber of Commerce.
