Texas bass lakes have come a long way through the years. Fortunately, so have angler attitudes as well as the techniques and strategies that modern day fisheries scientists are using to manage one fishery to the next.
I was just a cub when Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn were in their hey days, so I never witnessed the mega schools of bass that patrolled timberlines and flooded pastures in swarms so thick you catch fish on every cast for hours on end. To hear some of the old timers tell it, the “good ol’ days” of Texas bassin’ didn’t last for long.
