About the December Cover
As additional cold weather filters into the Lone Star State, thousands of wary snow geese continue flying south to make Texas their winter home. Along their migration route these birds have seen just about every hunting spread and set up and that simply has made them “smart.”
Renowned wildlife artist Michael Sieve’s “Snow Goose Hunters” captures a scene when these “smart” birds are fooled and their numbers are thinned. Whether on the corn and grain fields to the north, or the rice and coastal prairies goose hunters relish the days when they “fool ‘em” and get covered up by decoying geese.
