Late Fall Coastal Transitions

A combination of fall and winter fishing patterns provide plenty of opportunities for Texas inshore anglers to be thankful.

Most anglers recognize the transitional fishing patterns that occur between spring and summer, summer and fall, and winter and spring. However, there is a distinct difference between fall and winter fishing patterns.
November is generally a time when this transition occurs as a confluence of weather conditions collide – often right around Thanksgiving – to trigger fish into their winter pattern. So, while anglers can enjoy fall fishing through much of November, especially early in the month, make no mistake – November is a transition month as far as inshore fishing patterns are concerned.
Although fishermen often think of transitional months as awkward angling periods, November can be a very productive time to be on Texas inshore waters. The really neat thing about the fall/winter transition is anglers are able to experience two distinctly different types of fishing – often within the same week. Both patterns anglers can expect to find can be extremely productive as long as fishermen are able to identify the pattern and employ the right lures, baits and strategies to target fish in that pattern.
